No word yet on Villa’s replacement

Madrid: Spain coach Vicente del Bosque is not rushing to name a replacement for David Villa despite the Barcelona striker’s slim chances of playing at Euro 2012.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola visited Villa on Tuesday as the 30-year-old recovered from surgery on a fractured shin that has left the country’s all-time leading goal scorer a doubt to help the World Cup holders defend their European crown in the June 8 to July 1 tournament.

Valencia striker Roberto Soldado and Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo are leading candidates, while the Madrid-based media is also pushing for former international Raul Gonzalez of Schalke.

Del Bosque says “all those who are playing in the Spanish league and (...) those in other leagues who are doing very well all have possibilities”.
