Two held for murder

Jajpur: Korei police on Friday arrested the son and son-in-law of a 65-year old man, who was killed at his married daughter’s house on Thursday night. The deceased, Hurusikesh Sahoo, a street vendor at Jajpur Road Market, lived with his daughter and her husband. n Thursday night, his son Mahendra, 35, went to his sister’s house and apparently beat up his father. His brother-in-law Ranjit Kumar Singh also joined him. Later, when the duo took Hurusikesh to a local government hospital, the doctors declared him dead. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report.

Lunar eclipse

Bhubaneswar: All the rituals at Puri’s Jagannath temple will be stopped between 9am and 9.48pm on Saturday because of a lunar eclipse. This the second eclipse of the year. The eclipse will begin at 6.16pm and continue till 9.48pm and will be visible from across the state.

Baby’s head

Cuttack: Mangalabag police on Friday seized the severed head of a baby from the campus of Bhubananand Odisha School of Engineering College at Jobra. The college authorities spotted the head of a three or four-month-old that was reportedly brought there by stray dogs. Police suspect the baby was dumped after its death and the dogs found it. The exact cause of death would be ascertained only after the post-mortem.

Crocodile

Kendrapara: Wildlife officials have a caught a 10-foot estuarine crocodile that had strayed into a village close to the Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary. The female reptile was spotted along the waterlogged crop fields of Padmanavpur village few days ago.
