Ranchi, Dec. 7: A team of Research and Development Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS) men has bagged the International Society of Automation (ISA) Transactions Best Paper Award 2011 at the Automation Week in Alabama, USA.
This is the first time a multi-disciplinary team of Indian engineers working in the country has won the prestigious award which is dubbed the Oscars in automation.
The team members comprised Subhasis Chaudhuri, deputy general manager and HoD (drawing and engineering), senior managers Rajeev Kumar Singh and Kuntal Patwari, deputy general manager Susanta Majumdar, HoD (process automation) Asim Kumar Ray, Durgapur steel plant general manager (quality) Arun Kumar Prasad Singh, and former RDCIS executive director Nirbhar Neogi.
The team from the SAIL wing has been honoured with a plaque for their paper titled “Design and implementation of an automated secondary cooling system for the continuous casting of billets,” which was published in the ISA Transactions journal 2010.
