NBSTC official gheraoed

Cooch Behar, Nov. 30: The Trinamul Congress’s labour wing Inttuc gheraoed the managing director of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation for four hours today, demanding the disbursal of salaries that had been due for two months.

The protest that started around 10am was lifted after the official had assured the agitators that the salaries would be paid by Saturday. Citu-affiliated North Bengal State Transport Employees’ Union had chalked out protest from today on the same demand. But the plans were dropped after the assurance. Managing director of the NBSTC D.B. Lepcha said bus services had been hit for over eight hours because of the gherao.


Nature camp

Siliguri: The Himalayan Nature and Adventure Foundation will organise two nature study camps for children in Mouri forest. While a camp for special children and youths aged between five and 25 years will be held from December 18 to 23, another one for children between five and15 years will be organised from December 25 to 30.


Exam dates

Siliguri: The post-graduate first and third semester exams of North Bengal University will start from January 19. The examination was scheduled start on January 4. The MCA first and third semester exams scheduled to begin on December 5 would be held after December 17 after the varsity’s student union election is over. The MCA exam dates would be announced later, officials said.

Jalpaiguri: Gautam Das, a lawyer and entrepreneur from Siliguri, has joined the Trinamul Congress. Das has been appointed as the general secretary of the West Bengal Trinamul Congress Legal Cell and party’s vice-chairperson in Jalpaiguri district.


Fake notes

Malda: Baishnabnagar police arrested Bablu Mian from NHPC More on Tuesday evening and recovered fake Indian currency with a face value of Rs 3.9 lakh from him.
