Jorhat, Nov. 23:
Oil India Limited has won the prestigious Greentech Environment Excellence Award 2011 in Gold Category from Greentech foundation in oil and gas sector, an official statement said today.
KMSS dharna
Jorhat:
The KMSS took out a rally from Titabar Chariali to the office of subdivisional officer (civil) where a dharna was staged to protest against the neglect of farmers and non-fixing of foodgrain prices on Wednesday.
Postal strike
Jorhat:
Postal agents all over the state in response to a call of the central committee of the All India Postal Agents Association will go on strike on Thursday to protest against reduction of agents’ commission.
AASU protest
Tezpur:
AASU activists on Wednesday evening stopped a truck carrying equipment for the NHPC’s Lower Subansiri power project at Mission Chariali in Sonitpur district. AASU and several other organisations are opposed to the construction of the big dam and have said they would not allow any equipment to be delivered to the project site.
Office burnt
Imphal:
The poll office of Khumukcham Jaikishan, who is preparing to contest the forthcoming Manipur Assembly election from Thangmeiband Assembly constituency, was set on fire by unknown persons on Wednesday morning. Jaikishan said two vehicles, documents and some furniture in the office were damaged. He suspected the arson was the handiwork of one of his rivals.
