Gun unit busted

Hazaribagh: Police on Monday unearthed a mini gun factory at Kariyatpur in Ichak block and arrested five persons including a former area commander. hey recovered two countrymade revolvers, live cartridges and five mobile phones besides material used in making arms. Superintendent of police Pankaj Kamboj said Sagar Jee alias Samundar Bhuiyan of Tritiya Prastuti Committee was arrested along with Sunil Mehta, Sagar, Devanand Vishwakarma and Jogi Yadav. They were also wanted in two cases of abduction.

BSc exams

Ranchi: After students of the BSc nursing course at RIMS sat on an indefinite strike on Monday, the pro vice chancellor of Ranchi University V.P.Sharan announced that exams would start from December 5. The exam was postponed since RIMS is yet to get permanent affiliation from the government. The exam would be held under provisional registration.

Army ceremony

Ranchi: The 20 Bihar regiment marked its flag raising ceremony at Namkum cantonment on Monday. Lt General A.K. Bakshi SM, VSM unfurled the flag in the presence of all the officers of the regiment.

New projects

Ranchi: Ranchi Municipal Corporationís deputy mayor Ajay Nath Shahdeo on Monday laid the foundation stones for a couple of drain and road projects in wards 33, 34 and 35.

Cop suspended

Hazaribagh: A constable was suspended and an FIR lodged against him on Monday for shooting at an officer in charge on Thursday. Rameshwar Mishra had shot at Rajesh Kumar Singh of Vishnugarh police station because Singh had reported him for refusing to do his duty to his superior. Singh was unharmed as the bullet missed him. Mishra was later arrested.
