Baba gets jail term

Puri: Puri session court on Monday sentenced Baba Padma Charan Das with rigorous life imprisonment for killing one 65-year-old Biranchi Naryan Senapati. On May 16, 2006, Mohapatra had bludgeoned Senapati to death and left the place by locking the door of his room from outside. fter committing crime, Das had fled to Kanas area taking mobile phone, gold ornaments and the cash. Later Das portrayed himself as a “baba” and engaged in religious discourses. However, tracking the mobile phone, police managed to arrest him after four months.

Naveen letter

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to intervene and take proper measures to tackle inflation. ccording to Naveen, the 20 per cent price hike on essential commodities such as pulses, edible oils have affected the common man badly. aveen has also written that hike of petroleum products has weakened the financial condition of the poor as the rise in petroleum prices have a cascading effect on the price of everything.
