Kokrajhar, Nov. 12: President of All Bodo Students Union (Absu) Promode Boro today urged society to keep a strict vigil on use of drugs by the younger generation.
“Society should be strict and keep a vigil on the use of drugs, alcohol and gambling so that future generations can be free of such social evils,” Boro said at the silver jubilee celebration and ninth biennial conference of the Kokrajhar unit committee of Absu. The meet concluded today at Tengapara LP school.
Abuse of drugs, especially by school and college students, is on the rise in Kokrajhar and needs conscious efforts to curb the menace. Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Boro said the education scenario had become very competitive. He expressed concern over the education scenario in the Bodoland Territorial Council region, which is “still backward”.
