Rebels in cop net

Patna: Two Maoist activists Deepak Rajbhar alias Ranjit and Dharmendra Ram were arrested on Friday from an area under the jurisdiction of Nabinagar police station in Naxalite-hit Aurangabad district. ne 9mm pistol, 7 live cartridges and one magazine were seized from them. Police said the arrested Maoists were wanted in a dozen cases, including blasts and violence in the district.

Patna: Three girls, aged between 10 and 18, drowned in the Ganga on Friday at the Mahavir Tola Ghat in Chiratar village under Maner police station.

Muzaffarpur: Vigilance sleuths on Friday nabbed Bihar State Electricity Board executive engineer Durga Nand Jha while allegedly taking a bribe. Jha was caught when he accepted Rs 6,500 from one Vishwanath Sahni.

Seizure

Patna: Customs officials and Railway Protection Force personnel confiscated contraband goods worth Rs 50 lakh from the brake van of Patna-bound Capital Express at Katihar Junction on Thursday night.

Murder

Sasaram: Salempur resident Asha Devi, 45, was allegedly killed by her brother-in-law Dinesh Yadav on Thursday night. Her husband is lodged in Sasaram jail in connection with a murder case.

In-charge

Patna: Inspector-general (provision) Sunil Kumar has been given additional charge of the secretary of the disaster management department. The state general administration department on Friday issued an official notification in this regard.
