Shirui Lily Cup
Imphal:
Tiddim Road Athletic Union edged out Keinou KLASA 3-1 in the 28th Shirui Lily Cup National-Level Football Tournament at TN Ground in Ukhrul district on Thursday. Tiddim Road shot ahead with a goal in the 20th minute from R.M. Ngathangmi but Keinou equalised with a goal from S. Homeshor in the 43rd minute. However, Tiddim Road changed the direction of the game with L. Rakesh getting his team’s second goal in the 51st minute and L. Tiken fetching the winning goal in the 72nd minute. It has also been confirmed that Naga Boys, Kohima and Arhima Club, Shillong have confirmed their participation in the quarter-final stages.
Mohanty wins
Guwahati:
Assam lad Bijay Kumar Mohanty annexed the under-14 boys’ doubles title, partnering Maharashtra boy Aryan Goveas, in the AITA-Super Series Tennis Championship at Panchgani in Maharashtra on Thursday. Bijay and Aryan defeated Uttar Pradesh boys Chimaya Dev Chouhan and Wavan Andesh in the final. Earlier, Bijay booked an under-14 boys’ final berth, defeating Chinmaya Dev Chouhan.
School Games
Guwahati:
The Assam tug-of-war girls’ squad for the 57th National School Games, to be held in Goa from November 1, left from here on Wednesday.
The squad:
Santana Bora, Barasha Hazarika, Asha Basumatary, Pompi Dutta, Surabhi Gogoi, Anju Devi, Nayanmoni Devi, Lipika Gogoi and Seema Kataki. Prabodh Deka and Utpal Bora are the coach and manager.
