Jorhat, Oct. 26: The chairman of Sivasagar municipal board, Rana Khan, on Wednesday assumed additional charge as the chairman of the Sivasagar Development Authority.

Jorhat: The Jorhat district administration has declared a local holiday on Thursday.

Ulfa claim

Guwahati: Ulfa’s Paresh Barua faction on Wednesday said Palash Chutia, who surrendered on Tuesday, is not their member. In a press statement, publicity in-charge Arunodoy Dohotia said the person was involved in several dacoity cases in Tinsukia and Ulfa warned him thrice to rectify himself.

Cop hurt

Nagaon: Rajib Rajkhowa, a havildar with the Rong Bong Bey police station in Karbi Anglong district, was injured after a bullet accidentally fired from his service carbine hit him on Wednesday morning.

Body found

Dhubri: The body of an unidentified girl was found in a paddy field in Kathaldi village on the outskirts of Bilasipara town of Dhubri district on Tuesday night. hen contacted Bilasipara Sub-divisional police officer, Gunidra Deka said that the body till this evening remained unidentified. Body after post-mortem kept in Dhubri morgue.
