NRL pays govt
Guwahati, Oct. 20:
Numaligarh Refinery Limited paid Rs 13.62 crore as dividend to the Assam government for its equity holding of 12.35 per cent in the company for the financial year 2010-11. The dividend cheque was formally handed over to chief minister Tarun Gogoi by managing director, NRL, Dipak Chakravarty,

Jawan dies
Jorhat:
Jitu Gogoi, a CRPF jawan of Chintamoni Garh under Bho-gamukh police station, died after hitting a tree and falling into a pond while riding his motorcycle on Wednesday.
Accidents
Jorhat:
Two persons were killed in two separate train accidents in Golaghat district on Thursday. The victim, both aged between 30 and 35, are yet to be identified. The first one occurred near the Don Bosco School in Golag-hat town, while the second one was in the Kamarbandha area.
Body found
Dhubri:
An unidentified body was recovered from Gangadhar river near Sighimari on Wednesday. RIEF NE okrajhar: Security forces shot dead a person identified as Jibon Soren( 26) at Srirampur railway gate under Gossaingaon police station in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. A 7.65 mm pistol and few live ammunitioon was found. He hails from Dakhingaon Bamungaon village of Chirang district.
Drug seized
Dhubri:
Around 4,000 bottles of phensedyl in 80 cartoons worth Rs 3 lakh were seized by Gouripur police of Dhubri district from a Agartala-bound truck. Two persons, Khosh Mohammad and Mithun Sheikh from Nadia district of West Bengal, have been arrested.
