Lavish living

If wine is the poison of your choice then this trip is definitely worth your while. The Beau-Rivage Palace, one of the most famous hotels in Lausanne, Switzerland, has a Lavaux Wine Package going until November 30, 2011. Tagged at approximately Rs 69,000 (superior room) and at about Rs 1.01 lakh (deluxe room) for two on double occupancy basis for two nights and three days, it includes accommodation with breakfast, a voucher of CHF 80 per person (approximately Rs 4,300) redeemable in one of the hotel’s restaurants and free access to the Cinq Mondes Spa, the fitness centre and tennis courts. There’s more a visit to Domaine du Daley or Daley Estate, the oldest vineyard of the region located in the heart of Lavaux, the opportunity to taste owner Cyril Severin’s best vintages and a bottle of wine from the estate. Return airfares per person (Calcutta-Geneva-Calcutta) start at about Rs 39,000. Go to www.brp.ch for details.

My favourite holiday

Shreevats Goswami,
cricketer

One of my favourite holidays was in South Africa a couple of years back. I was part of the KKR IPL team and it was more fun than work. We stayed at a hotel right across North Beach, one of the best beaches in South Africa along Durban’s Golden Mile. It was all about experimenting with international cuisines and once in a while indulging in authentic Indian meals. One of the highlights of the trip included meals at Nando’s, the casual dining restaurant chain that has its origins there. I also enjoyed dolphin spotting and jungle safaris.
