Dos and don’ts for safe Puja

Deputy inspector-general (DIG) of North Chotanagpur commissionerate Suman Gupta held a meeting in Hazaribagh on Tuesday to discuss measures to make this year’s Durga Puja a safe experience.

The meeting, which was attended by officers in charge of all police stations of Hazaribagh, saw Gupta issue a list of dos and don’ts for Puja organisers as well as policemen.

“I have asked the organisers to provide names and numbers of all volunteers. The volunteers will also have to adhere to a dress code so that they can be identified easily. We will also issue identity cards to them,” Gupta said.

The DIG warned the organisers against making cave-shaped entrance to the pandals as it shrunk space and raised possibilities of a stampede. She also asked them to put up boards containing emergency contact numbers.
