Jail assault inquiry
Patna:
Five persons, including an MLA and an advocate, approached the Bihar State Human Rights Commission on Friday seeking its intervention into the alleged assault on the prisoners at Beur jail. he jail officials allegedly beat up some jail inmates on the pretext of carrying out search operations.
Falgu pollution
Patna:
The high court on Friday directed the central and state governments, Bihar State Pollution Control Board, Gaya Municipal Corporation and others to file their counter affidavits within two months on a PIL seeking direction to authorities concerned to take steps to protect river Falgu from getting polluted.
Relief refusal
Patna:
The high court on Friday refused to give relief to Kundan Prasad Singh, the father of Rahul Raj, who was allegedly killed in a fake police encounter at Mumbai in October 2008. Singh was seeking a CBI probe.
