Bangalir adda and Bangalir pran... this is what www.banglalive.com, a decade-old web portal of and for Bengal has chosen to celebrate and nurture. The portal initiated by The Chatterjee Group (TCG) was relaunched on Friday, with new features and a hip interface, at Tangerine Banquets, Silver Spring.

Those present included minister Partha Chatterjee, Bangladesh deputy high commissioner Md. Mustafizur Rahman, TCG’s Purnendu Chatterjee and Aniruddha Lahiri, Bharati Ray, Tanusree Shankar, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and Agnimitra Paul.

Anindya and Upal from Chandrabindoo set the tone with hits like Amra Bangali jati, Amar shohor, Bhindeshi tara and Doodh na khele.

“I had to come for this re-launch of Bangla’s very first social networking site. But just opening a website is not enough. I want The Chatterjee Group to do more. They should hire more techies, get the best people down from the US, and make this bigger and better. If they are not satisfied with a red carpet welcome, we will give them a special green carpet one,” said Partha Chatterjee.
