Patna, Sept. 12: Special CBI judge Bashishth Narayan Singh today framed charge against Rupam Pathak, teacher of a private school in Purnea, under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the murder case of Purnea BJP MLA Rajkishore Keshari.

Rupam was present in the court at the time of framing of the charge.

The court told her that she, on January 4 this year, murdered Keshari at his Sipahi Tola residence in Purnea by stabbing him with a knife intentionally, causing death of Keshari and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 302 of the IPC.

The court directed a fresh trial against her so that no prejudice is caused in justice. Earlier, the trial against Rupam was being conducted under Section 304 of IPC.

On behalf of the CBI, public prosecutor Akhatar Hussain Khan submitted before the court that no relief had been given to the accused by Patna High Court regarding alteration of charge.

The court fixed the next date for producing prosecution witness on September 14.
