Calcutta, Aug. 26: The urban development ministry today decided to review land allotted for commercial purposes in Salt Lake in the past five years.
The ministry will compare the prices at which the plots were given away with the going rate at that time. It will examine if the land had been utilised for the purpose specified. Many organisations had bought land to build schools.
The cabinet will decide what to do with a plot allotted to Sourav Ganguly for a school in CF block. The cricketer returned the land following a Supreme Court order. The state has returned the money he had paid.

Calcutta: A second-year student of the Indian Statistical Institute was found hanging inside her hostel room on Thursday. Ruma Garai, 21, hailed from Murshidabad.No suicide note was found, police said.
