Bus hits auto, three injured

Two women and a man were injured when an autorickshaw overturned after being hit by a minibus near the Park Circus crossing on Sunday.

The injured — the auto driver and his two passengers — were admitted to National Medical College and Hospital. The condition of Ruby Parveen, a Beniapukur resident, is critical, doctors said. The other two were released after being given first-aid.

The driver of the bus escaped.

According to police, the bus driver lost control while overtaking a car and hit the autorickshaw on Syed Amir Ali Avenue around 12.45pm. “Rash driving led to the accident,” said the officer.

Murder: A worker at a paint-manufacturing unit in Konnagar was found dead on the factory premises late on Saturday. Madan Tatua, 24, was returning home around 9.30pm when three youths intercepted him and dragged him into the factory. Subodh Das, who was accompanying Tatua, ran to alert his family members who live less than a kilometre from their workplace. The body was found after an hour’s search. Preliminary probe revealed Tatua was hit on his forehead and strangled with a towel.
