Trains cancelled

Several trains, including the Down Radhikapur-Calcutta Express, Down Saharda-Sealdah Hatey Bazare Express, Up Howrah-Dibrugarh Town Kamrup Express and the Down Dibrugarh Town-Howrah Kamrup Express, will not run on Wednesday because of track maintenance in the Malda division of Eastern Railway.

Bidhan Nivas arrest: A mason was arrested in Baruipur on Tuesday in connection with the robbery in a flat at Bidhan Nivas in Ultadanga on July 27, during which a 93-year-old woman was killed. Zulfiquar Baidya, the mason, was approached by Swadesh Mukherjee, the estate’s guard who had been arrested earlier, for carrying out the dacoity, said police. Baidya engaged the three painters who were also arrested earlier.

Three held: Manoranjan Haldar, Manoj Sett and Pintu De were arrested from Bally Halt station on Monday night in connection with a burglary.
