Mumbai, Aug. 14: Shammi Kapoor’s funeral will be held at 9am at the Banganga crematorium tomorrow after the actor’s grandson returns from the US, family sources said.

Doctors at Breach Candy hospital refused to speak on the actor’s medical condition. Son Aditya Raj said he died of renal failure.

“He was a very happy and lively person. He was unwell for sometime... he was on dialysis. He died of kidney failure,” Aditya said. “I miss him and I know, so will you. We are his fans, so are you. I just hope to see him more and more on television.”

Twitter buzzed with condolences. Almost all of Bollywood turned up at Shammi’s Malabar Hill home.

Apart from the Kapoor clan, Anupam Kher, Kajol, Prem Chopra, Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao, director Farah Khan and industrialist Anil Ambani called on the family. Shah Rukh Khan visited in the evening.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote in a message: “He was an accomplished actor who entertained millions and millions of fans in India and abroad. I share his family’s grief.”
