Suicide bid at Besu
Abhijit Mandal, a second-year mechanical engineering student at Besu, was found unconscious in his hostel room on Tuesday night. The authorities and students said the Siliguri resident had tried to commit suicide by consuming drugs. Mandal has been admitted to SSKM Hospital.
Presidency
Officials of SciencesPo, an institute in Paris, met Presidency vice-chancellor Amita Chatterjee on Tuesday to discuss a student exchange programme in political science, applied economics, sociology and history.
Film city
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has deferred the foundation stone laying ceremony of a film city in Uttarpara because of the flood-like situation in south Bengal. The programme was scheduled for Saturday.
