Sehwag is expected today

Nottingham: Virender Sehwag, who missed the first two Tests, is scheduled to arrive in England on Tuesday. Sehwag, who was ruled out for the first fortnight of the series, is expected to join the embattled side in Northampton on Wednesday. The Indians play a two-day tour match against Northants starting this Friday ahead of the third Test, which starts in Birmingham next week.

RCA muddle

Jaipur: Confident of getting a majority, the C P Joshi faction has called for an AGM to end the deadlock in the ongoing power struggle in the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

The divisions within the RCA surfaced after the suspension of its secretary Sanjay Dixit by its president and Union minister Joshi.

Woods to play

Sydney: Tiger Woods has signed up to play at the Australian Open in Sydney in November, organisers said on Monday, making the former world No. 1 a likely starter at the following week’s Presidents Cup. The 14-time Major winner will return to competition for the first time since May at this week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in the US after missing the last two Majors because of leg injuries.

Rahil tied 42nd

Utah: Rahil Gangjee carded a creditable three-under 68 in the final round to rise 12 places and sign off tied 42nd at the Utah Championships here. Gangjee ended his campaign with a total of seven-under 277. JJ Killeen completed a fine win with a final round 65 and picked his maiden Nationwide title at the Willow Creek Country Club.

Colts win

Calcutta: The India under-19 team rallied to beat FC Adelaide 4-3 in their second match of the Weifang Cup being played in Shandong. India were down 1-3 at one stage but goals from Brandon Fernandes, Holicharan Narzary, Prabir Das and Rajinder Kumar helped India win 4-3 against the Adelaide side. India next play Portugal’s FC Benfica on on Wednesday.

New contract

London: Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United to keep him at Old Trafford until 2015, the Premier League club said on Monday.

Yusif in United

Calcutta: United Sports Club are expected to sign veteran striker Yusif Yakubu. The Ghanaian will be arriving here on Tuesday. United SC have already signed Belo Rasaq and have retained Joshimar .

India lose

Kathmandu: India lost to Pakistan by a solitary goal in the opening match of the Saff U-16 championship at the Dharsath Stadium, here, on Monday. Mansoor Khan scored the winner.
