Assault slur on govt staff

Kendrapara: A state government employee has been taken into custody for attempting to outrage the modesty of a physically challenged woman at Phirikidandi village, about 50km from here. The accused person — Nimai Charan Beura — an employee of the staterun housing development corporation committed the offence in the absence of victim’s family members. The culprit had confessed to the crime and was remanded to jail custody, said Maheswar Sethy, inspector incharge of Rajnagar police station.

Admission

Bhubaneswar: Admissions for the Plus Two courses will begin on Monday and continue till August 5. As many as 23,4462 intimations have been sent to the aspirants. For the first time, the eadmission process was introduced for all the junior colleges across the state.

Two arrested

Bhubaneswar: Two persons were detained on Sunday in connection with the loot case on the premises of Puri temple. On Saturday, the goons robbed silver ornaments from Bata Ganesh temple located on the premises of the Jagannath temple. The Bata Ganesh temple is located about 200 metres south from the main shrine of Lord Jagannath.

Civic anger

Bhubaneswar: Around 500 residents of Sikharchandi Nagar area at Patia on Sunday gheraoed councillor of ward No. 1 Manoranjan Behera giving him an eleven-point demand. The people alleged that their area had been neglected for the last two years without proper roads, drinking water and streetlights. hey also said the councillor had not taken any steps to provide them with the basic facilities. “Now, the municipal corporation is providing equal amount to each ward for development work, but the undeveloped area like ward No. 1 needs special package,” said the councillor.
