IFA does away with relegation

The Indian Football Association (IFA) has decided to do away with relegation in the Premier Division of the Calcutta Football League (CFL) for the upcoming season.

The move came after all the Premier Division clubs, except East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and United SC, requested IFA to abolish the rule.

The IFA also announced that CFL will be revamped into a professional set-up from 2012. Nine top teams from the coming season will play in the Premier Division while the rest of the 10 teams, including two promoted sides, will play in a super division format.

Rugby meet

Jungle Crows beat Armenians 26-22 while Future Hope overcame CCFC 33-17 in the Calcutta Cup Rugby 15ís Division-I on Saturday.

Table tennis

Arnab Sarkar and Sutirtha Mukherjee entered the semi-finals of junior boys and junior girls category respectively in the Saroj Ghosh Memorial Table Tennis Championship.
