Rishi Kapoors comeback venture Do Dooni Chaar — where he starred with his wife Neetu Singh — may not have set the box office on fire, but the yesteryear romantic hero is obviously not complaining. We hear that the 50-something Kapoor has a number of films in his kitty now. But the one to watch out for is Karan Johars Student of the Year slated for release next year. Apparently, Kapoor plays a homosexual university dean in the movie and sports a rather outlandish wardrobe. So get set to see the chocolate boy hero of yore in weird wigs, floral shirts and pink trousers. Now, wont that be nice and gay?

Remember Rakesh Bedi — the chubby actor with fantastic comic timing who so enthralled audiences in the 1980s in films like Chashme Baddoor and television serials like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi? Well, Bedi, who has been seen off and on since then, will soon feature in an ambitious role in a play. He will play 24 characters in a two-hour-long stage production called Massage. Written by the late Vijay Tendulkar, the play — which is in the form of a monologue — looks at Bollywood from the eyes of various characters. Bedi will be essaying the characters who will confront Happy Kumar, the main protagonist in the production. Its a dream role, says the actor, and certainly one of the greatest challenges of his career. Were sure hell put up a bravura performance.
Its nice to see a wife playing the role of the ideal helpmeet to the hilt. Take Kajol. First, she stepped back from a successful acting career to be a good wife to Ajay Devgn and mother to her two young children. Then, to drive home the point, she took to doing TV commercials as the quintessential housewife who prattles about the goodness of ready soups, bio drinks et al. And now we hear that the model wife even does her bit to help her husband professionally. When Devgn had to deliver some dialogues in Marathi for his upcoming film Singham, it was Kajol who helped him perfect the accent. How touching. Who knows, maybe the lovey dovey couple have taken to cooing in Marathi these days.
Kiran Mazumdar Shaw doesnt just make healthcare products. The chairman and managing director of Biocon India Ltd can also make music. Nine CEOs — including Shaw — sang for their supper in Bangalore last week. The charity event — called CEOs Sing for their Supper — was organised by Genesis Foundation to fund the treatment of seven critically ill, orphaned children. Shaw sang two songs that she said were her childhood favourites — Those were the days my friend and Where do you go to my lovely. But after she rocked the gathering, she said she wasnt actually singing for her supper — as she was on a diet!
