Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has reiterated his allegiance to the red side of Manchester before his LA Galaxy side play Manchester City.
The two sides meet on Sunday in a pre-season friendly, a match, which will see Beckham playing against Manchester City for the first time since his move to Real Madrid in 2003.
Beckham praised the quality of Citys squad, but was at pains to point out his preference for his old club. Theyre bringing good players in, theyve got strong people with a lot money backing the club, Beckham said.
They might be a threat this season. There are great players in their team, but theyre never going to be Manchester United. Manchester United has got the history, and the silverware over the last 20 years. Theres only one team in Manchester. Im a Manchester United fan, so Im always going to say that.
David Beckham believes losing Carlos Tevez will be a major blow for City and suggested that Uniteds tradition of success in the Premier League would see them retain the title. Tevez is such a great player, and was a strong player for them last season. If they do lose him then it will be disappointing for the fans and for the rest of the team.
But theyve got a lot behind them as an organisation and a club. Theyre going to be able to keep bringing world class players in
You need a lot of experience in the Premier League, so well see what happens.
