Poulami emerges champion
Srinagar: Air India’s Sanil Shetty and Poulami Ghatak of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) clinched the men’s and women’s singles title at the North Zone All India National Ranking table tennis championships here on Tuesday.
Sanil beat Airport Authority of India’s Raj Mondal 11-6, 11-8, 15-13, 11-6 while five-time national champion Poulami defeated Anandita Chakraborty of RSPB 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 11-5.
Bronze for Sodhi
New Delhi: Ace Indian marksman Ronjan Sodhi on Tuesday clinched bronze medal in double trap at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Maribor, Slovenia.
Sodhi shot a series of 48, 49, 48 for a total of 145 in the qualification, before compiling 49 in the finals to finish on the podium.

New Delhi: Indian cueists Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta held their nerves to see off the challenge from Belgium 3-2 in the team championships on the second day of the Snooker World Cup in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Dar es Salaam: Thirteen members of an Eritrean soccer club, Red Sea FC, taking part in a regional championship in Tanzania have disappeared after the side was knocked out of the tournament, a Tanzanian soccer official said on Tuesday.

Miami: Former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner, who quit soccer administration last month amid bribery allegations, said he would consider returning to the game to deal with “unfinished business.” “I will not say no because you can never tell what the future holds. Mumbai: The BCCI has recommended the name of Zaheer Khan to the government for the Arjuna Award, according to BCCI’s chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty.
“We have recommended only one name, that of Zaheer Khan, for the Arjuna Award,” Shetty said.
