6 VIP squatters stay put

Bokaro, July 9: Some of the VVIPs occupying Bokaro steel quarters illegally are in no hurry to move out.

Of the 14 politicians identified as squatters in an advertisement published by the steel plant authorities on July 5, and told to vacate the premises they were occupying by July 8, six, including deputy chief minister Hemant Soren, failed to oblige.

The other five are Hemant’s brother Basant Soren, Chandankyari MLA and Ajsu leader Umakant Rajak, former BJP MLA Yogeshwar Batul, former Bokaro MLA Israil Ansari and Vishrampur MLA Chandrashekhar Dubey.

According to Bokaro steel’s chief of communications Sanjay Tewary, Dubey, who had in his possession four quarters and had vacated one of the premises in Sector IV, was non-committal about when he would give up the rest.

Rajak, Batul and Ansari, when approached by steel plant officials today, said the quarters were allotted to them by the steel plant management, and they should be given ample time to move out.

Tewary said while Hemant’s house was locked, a person who was present in Basant’s house told the visiting team that the quarter would be vacated, but not in hurry.

Joining the group of reluctant evictees was Ajsu leader Sudhir Singh. “He said he will only vacate when others have done so as he will take more time for this as others have asked for more time, ” informed Tewary.

Meanwhile, among those who have already given up the quarters they had in their possession are Bokaro MLA Samresh Singh, former MLA Aklu Ram Mahto, DSP vigilance Rama Raut, inspector Anjani Kumar Singh and S.K. Mishra. Though RJD’s Awdhesh Singh Yadav has moved out all his belongings, he has not handed over the keys to the main door, stating that he would only do so, when the other quarters were vacated.
