Salt Lake municipality got a new chairperson on Thursday with Krishna Chakraborty taking over the reins. She was elected unanimously at the board of councillors’ meeting.
The council of the former chairperson, Anita Mondal, has been dissolved. She resigned on June 20 after losing party supremo and chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s confidence.

Action plan: Focus on roads, vector control and water supply. Wants to build a hospital for senior citizens.
