Crows vs cops

policemen often have to deal with rogues and other difficult people. But troublesome crows? That’s exactly what’s bothering the police department in Everett in Washington, US. The birds have made their home in a tree in the department’s car park and are now defending their territory aggresively. Officers are targeted by crows swooping down on them while trying to reach their cars. Describing an encounter, an officer said: “I turned, faced the door and then shortly after, one came close to my head — didn’t hit me, but came close.” Three birds have been seen working as a team. While one creates a diversion, the other two dive at unsuspecting officers. Bird experts say crows can recognise faces and hold grudges. The policemen have been advised to ignore the birds as any attempt to antagonise them could make the situation worse.
