Bodam mukhiya dies in city

Jamshedpur, July 3: A 36-year-old BJP worker, who had sustained injuries on his way home after campaigning for party candidate Dineshanand Goswami, died of brain haemorrhage this morning.

Arup Singh, a mukhiya from Bodam, was injured in the mishap at Moribasa village, Patamda, on June 26.

According to sources, he was pillion-riding on a bike, which skidded while taking a turn.

The mukhiya was flung onto the road, hitting his head. An unconscious Arup was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital.

Another party worker Vijay Mondal, who was riding the bike, escaped with minor injuries.

Police have registered a case on the statement of the deceased’s brother, Niranjan Singh, before sending the body to MGM Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

Earlier, chief minister Arjun Munda and other senior BJP leaders had paid him a visit at the hospital.
