Barasat, July 3: Around 50 people broke glass panes, furniture and heckled doctors at Bongaon sub-divisional hospital today after a woman died shortly after giving birth.
Hospital sources said 24-year-old Rakhi Haldar, a resident of Majdia in Nadia, was admitted to the hospital last evening. She had a Caesarean section and died around 2am today. Her baby boy is alive.
Midnapore: Police have recovered two improvised explosive devices, three single-barrel guns, a musket and some cartridges from a bush near Auspal village in Jhargram. An officer said the arms and explosives had been hidden by Maoist rebels.
Burdwan: Narayan Das and his younger brothers father-in-law Kanai Das were killed on Saturday when their tractor overturned at Jhinukghata, about 15km from Katwa town in Burdwan. Narayan and 10 others were taking the body of his father Habu Das to a Katwa burning ghat in the tractors trailer car.
