Teenager body found

Malda, June 29: The body of a 17-year-old girl was found beside the railway tracks near Malahar station this afternoon.

Prabir Das, the inspector in charge of the GRP in Malda, said the girl had been identified as Nasrin Khatun, a resident of Kandaran near Ratua. He said the teenager was a Class X student of Chadua Damaipur High Madarsa. Nasrin’s school bag was also recovered from the spot, 65km from here. GRP officials said the driver of the Malda-bound NJP-Malda Passenger, which passes through the stretch where the body was found, had reported to the station manager of Malda that a girl had jumped in front of the train between Malahar and Ratua stations. Officials suspect Nasrin had committed suicide.

Kishormohan Biswas, the BDO, said he had taken up the matter with the higher authorities.
