Rising XI drub Irakdao


Kokrajhar, June 27: Rising XI trounced Irakdao Sports Club by 9-2 goals in an A-group league match of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association inter-club soccer league at KDSA ground here today.

Rising struck first blood in the 13th minute when striker Raju Chauhan got the better of the opposition goalkeeper for the opening goal.

However, Irakdao came back four minutes later when gamemaker Latima Basumatary dribbled past the Rising defence and drew parity.

But Rising, jolted by the counter-attack, lifted their game several notches thereafter and dominated the proceedings.

After Chauhan struck home another goal for Rising in the 25th minute to the make the lead 2-1, the floodgates opened and there was a goal rush.

Forward Hari Roy fired two goals in quick succession, in the 38th and 41st minutes.

After the lemon break, Chauhan conjured up his hattrick in the 55th minute to take the scoreline to 5-1.

Kisan Basumatary reduced the margin in the 61st minute as he got one back for Irakdao.

However, it was now Hariís turn to get a hattrick, as he struck the net in the 67th minute. Fellow striker Arjun Mushahary scored another goal for Rising in the 74th minute.

Hari netted two more goals to take his personal tally to five and bring about a convincing 9-2 win.
