Jumbo carcass
Guwahati, June 22:
A decomposed carcass of a male elephant was found inside the forest of Deepor Beel here today. The elephant is believed to have been knocked down by a train and later died in the forest.
Mill gutted
Nagaon:
A paper plant of Hindusthan Paper Corporation, Nagaon, was severely damaged by fire early on Wednesday morning. The fire was caused by a short circuit, a plant source said.
Suspended
Jorhat:
Abon Bora, a teacher of Maj Nora High School at Khonamukh in Sivasagar district, was suspended on Wednesday following a departmental inquiry which found him guilty of irregular attendance.
Father killed
Jorhat:
Musit Tanti was killed by his son Bipul over a quarrel on Wednesday morning at Mathurapur in Sivasagar district.
Timber seized
Dhubri:
Eight timber smugglers were arrested with two timber-laden trucks from Paharkata in Goalpara district on Tuesday. The timber was bound for Kukukata near Goalpara, a police source said.
