Tata team flaunts new look
- 23 players selected for JSA football league

Jamshedpur, June 14: Urban Services (Tata Steel) has rejigged its soccer team to come up with a good show at the Jamshedpur Sporting Association (JSA) football league, to kick off on June 25.

The 23-member team announced by Urban Services manager Basant Singh, is a mix of youth and experience.

This, selectors hope, will give a tough time to opponents in the super division section of the soccer league, one of the most popular sports fixtures in the eastern zone.

The outfit includes goalkeepers Niral Mardi, Sitaram Ugrasundi and Lakhan Samad.

Mansa Tudu, Sarad Chandra Sardar, Mangal Gope, Tarun Kumar Rout, Birender Kumar Bari, Jeetu Bodra, Shyamlal Sardar and Badal Minz are the defenders. M. Rahul Raj, Thakura Tudu, Brijesh Kant, Akash Munda, Soloman Kachhap, Butru Hansda, Mangal Majhi and Turesl Kemar Gope are the forwards.

Midfielders are Ganesh Samanth, Rajeev Mukhi, Birsa Sandil and Rahit Lakra.

Birdhan Marandi has been appointed manager of the team while Ashok Tudu is the coach, and Bansi Bose, assistant coach.

In a bid to keep the players in fine fettle for the league, Urban Services is also conducting a two-week special training camp at Tinplate Sports Complex. Though the players had prepared on their own, the camp is more comprehensive .

Singh said the players hail from different bustees in the steel city. “We'll try to put up a better show this time,” he said. In the last edition of the tourney, Urban Services had finished third.
