Traders held

Dhubri, June 11: Police picked up 10 persons from various parts of Bongaigaon last night.They were picked up for interrogation following allegations against them for selling food items without a trade licence from Bongaigaon Municipal Board and for duping customers.

Road mishap

B>n Dhubri: One Biju Paul, 32, of Sapatgram died on the spot when his motorbike collided head-on with a van at Makrijhara on Friday night. Pillion rider Raju Paul sustained injuries.

Arrested

Guwahati: Government Railway Police arrested Narayan Jaiswal, 33, from Guwahati railway station and recovered 15kg ganja from him on Saturday.

Drug peddler

Guwahati: CID sleuths arrested a drug peddler, Ibrahim Ali, from Uzan Bazar on Friday night and recovered 200 Nitro-Ten tablets and 70 Spasmoproxyvon capsules from him.

Pension

Guwahati: Assam Agricultural Officers Association welcomed the announcement of chief minister Tarun Gogoi to provide pension to farmers.
