Travel portals

New Delhi, June 4: An increasing number of people are turning to travel portals for better deals and packages.

According to a study by global research firm comScore, the number of visitors to travel sites surged 32 per cent over last year. In April this year, 18.5 million users visited travel sites from home or office compared with 13.9 million in the same month last year.

“The online travel category continues to show strong growth in India. As the online travel industry matures, it will be important for brands to provide increasing functionality, ease of use and security to its users to effectively compete in this growing market,” said Kedar Gavane, director (India) of comScore .

Indian Railways remained the most visited site, with 8.3 million people logging on to its website in April, while MakeMyTrip received 3.8 million visitors, Yatra.com 3.5 million and ClearTrip.com 2.1 million viewers.
