Dibrugarh, May 22: Holy High School, Barpeta defeated Rastravasha Vidyalaya, Tezpur via a spin of the coin in a Zone-I match of the All-Assam Dilip Sarmah Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament at Golaghat stadium today.
Winning the toss, Tezpur invited Barpeta to bat. Barpeta scored 71, losing six wickets in 15 overs. The match was curtailed because of overnight rains. Mitul Talukdar and Nayan Jyoti Das scored 17 each. Ajay Yadav, Sankar Kasua, Santosh Das and Lalon Shah took a wicket each.
In reply, Tezpur scored 71 for nine in 15 overs after which, according to the Assam Cricket Association directive, the match was decided through the spin of the coin. Sankar Kasua scored 24 for Tezpur while Santosh Poddar contributed 17. For Barpeta, Sourav Talukdar took three wickets for nine while Chinmoy Das captured two for 11.
In a Zone-II match at Bokakhat stadium, Dhemaji Higher Secondary School defeated Rangia Hindi High School by 35 runs.
Dhemaji won the toss and scored 76 for seven in 15 overs.
Bhupen Saikia scored 19 off 23 balls while Madhab Dutta contributed 14. Medium pacer Kishan Das captured two wickets for eight runs from three overs while Sourav Kalita bagged two for 22 from three overs.
Rangia were all out for 41 runs in 12.4 overs. Suman Basak scored 11 from 23 balls.
For Dhemaji, legspinner Tike Ngatry took four wickets for 11 runs in 2.4 overs. Offspinner Arabinda Chetia took five runs from two overs.
Herbwon English High School, Karbi Anglong will meet Haiborgaon Boys High School, Nagaon in Bokakhat. Nar Singh Higher Secondary School, Silchar will play Jorhat Govt Boys HS and MP School in Golaghat.
