After north-western fare, seafood and pan-Asian cuisine, Charcoal Grill is now ready to serve up dishes from epaar and opaar Bangla. The multi-cuisine restaurant launched its new Bengali menu on Tuesday, with singer Pramit Sen savouring the dishes.
With dishes like Pabda Maachher Jhaal, Enchor Chingri, Kasha Mangsho, Shukto, Dal, Aloo Bhaja, Dhokar Dalna, Begun, Bori and Patal Bhaja, Kancha Aamer Chatni, papad, payesh and paan — the thalis (both veg and non-veg) have 14 dishes. Charcoal Grill is known for its seafood; so we thought serving Bengali versions might be a good idea. The thought stayed with us and we decided to open a full-fledged Bengali section. There is a lot of demand for Bengali cuisine today, said Lalit Madan, partner, Charcoal Grill.
The thali concept is aimed at budget customers and the afternoon office crowd that doesnt want to go through the hassle of a la carte during business meets. We have chosen the standard favourites for now. Depending on the response, we might either change the menu every week or make the spread bigger on weekends. For now, this spread — reasonably priced, yet substantial — is the focus and the USP, added Madan.
The non-veg thali comes for Rs 250 (lunch) and Rs 295 (dinner), while the veg thali is Rs 175 (lunch) and Rs 220 (dinner). On weekends and holidays, pay Rs 275 to wash your lunch down with a pint of Kingfisher.
