Whiff of child sacrifice
Bhubaneswar:
The severed head of a baby found in Balangir town on Friday sent shockwaves across the town. This is suspected to be a case of child sacrifice. Local residents said this was not the first such case in the town and as many as 10 such incidents have been reported in the past. Police officials said they were aware of the allegations and would investigate the matter.

: The state has failed to meet its target of procuring rice and paddy during the kharif season because of unseasonal rain. gainst a target of 32 lakh metric tonne of paddy, the state was able to procure just 28.38 lakh metric tonne.

:Orissa Nursing Association members met SCB Medical College authorities on Friday and demanded that all the nurse working on contractual basis be regularised. he medical college authorities assured to look into their demand and recommend to the government to regularise their service. he association leaders threatened to go on an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
Student raped
Kendrapara:
A 19-year-old college student was allegedly raped by a drunk local resident at Balipatana village under Pattamundai police station area, about 25km from here. The incident occurred on the night of May 18. However, the parents of the victim girl lodged a complaint today. The victim was sent for a medical examination,” said Pattamundai police station inspector Rashmi Ranjan Sahu. The accused Tukuna Rout, who hails from the same village, is absconding,” Sahu added. he victim was a plus-three second year student at Pattamundai College.
Kids fall ill

At least 13 children of an anganwadi centre at Gohitragodia under Basta block were taken ill after consuming food. They were admitted to the local government- run health care unit. medical team from district headquarter hospital has been send to assist the local doctors, said chief district medical officer Iqbal Ahmed.
