Bomb arrest

Islampur, May 15: A person was arrested from Sujali this morning after a crude bomb he was allegedly making exploded.

Police said the resident of Sujali, 25km from here, was making bombs along with few others when a bomb suddenly exploded. Hearing the sound, the local people went to the spot and found a man lying with injuries. The others with him had fled the spot. The local people informed the police who arrested the injured person and took him to the Islampur subdivisional hospital, where he was administered first-aid.


Molester held

Balurghat: A youth was arrested from Badamile-Punditpara on Sunday after he had allegedly tried to molest a minor girl. Police said residents of the area caught Gautam Das while he was trying to molest the girl and handed him over to the police.


NBU event

Siliguri: The North Bengal University began its golden jubilee celebration with a two-day cultural programme at Rabindra Bhanu Mancha on the campus on Sunday. The event was inaugurated by Manas Dasgupta, a former professor of the varsity.
