The high court has stayed an order of the city sessions court slapping the “abetment of suicide” charge on industrialist brothers Ashok and Pradip Todi in the Rizwanur Rahman death case.
The Todis had on Tuesday moved the high court against the sessions court order.
Rizwanur’s elder brother Rukbanur Rahman, too, has moved the high court challenging ninth sessions judge Amit Chattopadhyay’s order exempting the three accused cops of the abetment charge. The trio, would, instead, be tried for criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy.
Justice Kalidas Mukherjee of the high court decided on Thursday to hear the petitions of the Todis and Rukbanur together and passed an interim order staying the sessions court order.
Apart from the Todis, two other accused have been slapped with the abetment charge — Pappu, a relative of the Rahmans, and Anil Saraogi, a relative of the Todis.
