House burnt
Jorhat, May 6:
Residents of Seleng Deswali under Teok police station here today burnt down the house and a truck belonging to Ali Akbar, a brick kiln owner in the village, to protest against the alleged beating up of Nilutpal Gogoi, a youth from Seleng Bornagaya. Police arrested Ali Akbar and his family. Gogoi is in hospital.
Man dead
Dhubri:
Arif Mohahmmad Khan, 17, of Nambapara died of his injuries at a Bongaigaon private nursing home on Thursday night. Khan was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a mini-truck at Chakihali under Manikpur police station in Bongaigaon district on May 3.
Snatched
Guwahati:
Two unidentified bikers snatched Rs 2.80 lakh from Prabhat Sharma, an employee of a travel agency, at Bhangagarh on Friday afternoon.

Dhubri:
The election officials in Dhubri, Bilasipara and South Salmara districts have begun preparing for smooth conduct of counting of votes on May 13. Postal ballot papers will be counted first, followed by votes in EVMs.
