Railway double line
Bhubaneswar:
Double lining of railway tracks between Sason and Rengali has been commissioned for public carriage of goods and passenger trains. Sudarsan Nayak, commissioner of railway safety, South Eastern Circle, Calcutta, on Tuesday inspected the new line. The commissioning of new double line will considerably increase the flexibility of train operation and safety of train movement by colour light signalling in the Sambalpur-Rengali section.

: Tension ran high at the district headquarter hospital here after mob gheraoed the hospital’s campus alleging death of a patient because of wrong medication. The patient, Gourmani Mallick (49) of Ashimila under Soro police station, underwent uterus surgery in the forenoon. Her condition was then reported to be stable and normal. However, she died in the afternoon after administration of an injection. “We would conduct an inquiry into the allegations. We would also take appropriate action if anyone is found guilty,” said chief district medial officer Saraswati Behera.
Jawan’s death

: Tension gripped Naugaon following murder of a BSF jawan. The jawan, identified as Sameer Nayak, was found dead. Though police have not yet succeeded in nabbing anyone in relation to the incident, family members of Nayak alleged that some youths of the neighbouring village were involved in the crime. Police have been deployed to maintain law and order situation.

: Rajgangpur police arrested two persons on Tuesday and seized a pistol and five bullets from their possession. They are believed to have been involved in a case of looting a petrol pump at Rambahal. The pump was looted on February 25, and the anti-socials had decamped with Rs 50,000.

: Bargarh police arrested 17 persons of Rajbandha village for attacking police and ransacking the police station. They were later forwarded to court.
