Grammy slash

Los Angeles, April 7 (Reuters): Grammy Awards organisers have said they would slash the number of categories to 78 from 109 for next year’s ceremony.

Many existing categories will be merged, while some will be dropped outright with contenders from different musical genres required to compete in new, all-purpose categories. However, the top awards — album, record and song of the year, and best new artist — will remain untouched.

Cruz team

Los Angeles (PTI): Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz and filmmaker Woody Allen are planning to reteam for a movie after Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Allen recently announced that he planned to shoot his as-yet-unnamed film in Rome, Entertainment Weekly has reported. “I know (what I’m doing next), but the thing is that I have to ask the director what I can say and what I cannot say, because he’s very secretive,” said the 37-year-old actress.

Spears tour

London (PTI): Pop star Britney Spears’ much hyped world tour is in jeopardy as the “nervous” singer has told studio bosses that she wants to postpone the gigs.
