Slice of America
American Center presents A Slice of Life III, an evening of American theatre featuring three plays in partnership with Stagecraft. To be staged first is So Please Be Kind (written by Frank D Gilroy, directed by Rohit Pombra). In this short play, the dramatist, an expert in the art of weaving together bizarre situations, places a couple in a hotel room for a rendezvous. Their passion is sandwiched between attempts to remember the name of an actor they have just passed on the street, whose identity they finally discover through a twist. The second, Lost (written by Mary Louise Wilson, directed by Nandini Banerjee), is a comedy that focuses on two women of “indeterminate” age and offers a delightful commentary on relationships and the aging process. The final play, Today a Little Extra (a scene from it appears here; written by Michael Kassin, directed by Rohit Pombra), is a bitter-sweet comedy that adds a new dimension to the meaning of ‘poignant’. Among other things, it shows us what was lost when America traded in the bustle of community life for the convenience of the shopping centre. By invitation only.

Event: A Slice of Life III, an evening of three American plays When: Today; 7pm onwards Where: American Center, Lincoln Room, 38A Jawaharlal Nehru Road
