Woo factor in poll fashion
In poll couture, the biggest priority is to woo and woo effectively. Hence, for Diphu BJP candidate Padma Maibongsa, the perfect attire would be a mix of Dimasa richa (akin to gamocha) around his neck and a Karbi jacket (choi hongthor), since he has to court voters from both communities. At least that is what his wife Kabita feels.
Kabita has already shopped for her husband — three pairs of kurta pyjama — for campaigning, for Rs 1,350 from Kota, Rajasthan. “He does not have a half jacket. I am buying that for him tomorrow,” she said.
Family feud
It is a fight between an aunt and her nephew for the Bilasipara (East) seat in Dhubri district. The Congress has nominated Bharati Barua for the seat where AGP has fielded her nephew, Prasanta Kumar Barua, who has been winning from this constituency since 1996.
Suspended
Nagaon deputy commissioner M. Angamuthu on Tuesday suspended the principal of Dumdumia Balisatra HS School, Bhaben Bora, for negligence of election duty.
