English soccer star David Beckham and former Spice Girl Victoria Adams opted for a wedding that would put royalty to shame. The couple — now parents of three — were married 12 years ago at the 560-acre Luttrellstown Castle, just outside of Dublin in Ireland. Hailed as “king and queen”, David and Victoria aka Posh sat on golden thrones and released doves at the end of the tearful vows. In celebration, a purple heraldic flag was raised above the castle with the letters ‘V.B.D.’ — for Victoria, Brooklyn (their son who was a few months old at the time) and David. The total damage?

A cool £500,000.

A few months after annulling her 24-hour marriage with Jason Allen Alexander, Britney Spears married back-up dancer Kevin Federline in a ceremony that was as unconventional as it could get. The menu included chicken wings and cheeseburgers and guests had to pay for their own drinks! The goody-bag given to each guest at the end contained sweatsuits that read “pimps” for the boys and “maids” for the girls. Little wonder then that the marriage lasted less than two years.

Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston

Everything about the Brad Pitt-Jennifer Aniston July 2000 wedding was unique. The Malibu marriage, which cost a whopping one million dollars, was a “Zen-garden” theme affair, complete with 50,000 flowers and a custom-made fountain! The madly-in-love couple paid special attention to their rings, opting for matching silver bands custom-designed by Italian jeweller Silvia Damiani. What resulted are the famous Jennifer Aniston/Brad Pitt wedding rings, both engraved with the names Jen 2000 and Brad 2000. When Damiani replicated the design, selling similar rings online, the couple slapped a $50 million lawsuit on him. They divorced soon after.

Rocker Robbie Williams and long-time girlfriend Ayda substituted the traditional bridesmaids with their eight dogs at their August 2010 wedding. “Our doggies are taking the bridesmaid roles! I was originally thinking little bow ties for them, but instead they’re going to each have flower collars,” the Better Man was quoted as saying minutes before the ceremony.
